Sometimes, we are our own worst enemy. When we make mistakes, if no one else tells us how terrible we are, we are pretty good at doing it ourselves. But change the negative self-talk and let yourself be imperfect. We all make mistakes, that’s how we learn!
Move Your Body
Exercise is the single best thing for our physical and mental health. Give yourself some love by moving your body and reaping the benefits. Exercise because it makes you feel good, not because you want to lose weight. When you change the reason why you exercise, the resistance will disappear, and it will feel like a treat instead of a punishment.
Sometimes, just putting your phone down can be an act of self-love. When your head is buzzing with ideas after work, give yourself a break from information and screens. Let your mind rest. Commute without zoning out. Notice the beautiful trees and the children playing. Be more present in your own life, because at the end of it, those are the moments you will remember - not the beautifully edited Instagram photos.
Need vs. Want
You may want to eat chocolate for dinner, and that can be an act of self-love once in a while but it’s not going to do you any favours in the long run. Doing what we want instead of what we need all of the time leaves us with empty wallets and unhealthy bodies and minds. Skip that last glass of wine and spend money on clothes that you need instead of impulsively buying things on sale that you’ll never use. Make the choice you know your future self will thank you for!
Having a daily routine may sound boring but staying consistent with your goals, diet, and exercise will give your life stability and get you to where you want to be. Love yourself enough to give yourself the life you dream of. Only you have the power to change it. Examples of great routines to incorporate in your life are eating a healthy breakfast every day, taking your vitamins, moving your body and enjoying a hobby that brings you joy.
